Little Rock wildlife control tip of the month: Norway rat inside roof - get the rodents out - An Norway rat usually chooses to live in the hollows offered by various trees when it lives in the wild, or in the burrows that have been created and abandoned by other animals. However, in a world where humans and wild creatures are starting to live hand in hand, it would seem that an norway rat inside roof is a more regular occurrence than ever before, which as you can imagine, comes with its fair share of problems. Luckily, with a few helpful hints and tips, such as the ones we are about to share with you, you can easily remove an Norway rat from inside your roof without too much hassle or stress. Firstly, you are going to want to either buy or create a nest box. The idea behind this is to encourage the animal to use this rather than your home, and a few little steps are all it takes in order to make it successful. You are going to want to use the scent from the previous nest of the Norway rat to lure it into its new home so this will mean having a good old rummage around in your attic or loft to find the old nest. Once you have done so, place the materials that you have found in the new nest box. You will also find that luring the creature in with scattered fruit leading to and inside the box will also help you in this quest. You are going to need to have the right placement of the nest box in order to make it a successful journey. Ideally, it should be around 5 feet from the ground to keep the animal safe from your household cat or dog, as well as other predators and threats that it may come across. You will also want to make sure that it is placed properly on a tree around the edge of your yard, and stuff it with some leaves and the old nesting material that you have found to make it super comfortable for the creature to move straight into.

He came immediately - said it was a Raccoon with Pups and put in a trap. He never entered my attic to look around because he was a pretty big guy and he is charging me quite a bit of money to boot! Did I make a mistake? The raccoon is in a very tight spot and he said he might have to cut into my bedroom ceiling. I told him I don't need more damage to my house. Especially since I would have to get someone else to repair my ceiling. Today is day 2 , it's 6:43 in the A.M. and I don't hear her being caught. Will she get caught? I've had migrane headaches every morning and a sickness in my stomach from all this. To make things worse, I'm caregiver to my Mom and Aunt who are 93 and 99 and if these creature ever fell through the ceiling, they would have a heart attack. Can you give me any reassurance this Raccoon will be caught? Am I on the right track with my Exterminator? Are they only in it for the money? Would love to hear from you. The companies I've spoken with say that Arkansas state law requires raccoons be killed rather than relocated. However, I spoke with one company that said it is the only Little Rock-area company licensed to relocate raccoons. An alternative some companies have offered is that if a female raccoon has her kits with her, the trapper can use a male raccoon hormone treatment, which will drive the mother out of the attic, taking her kits with her (I assume). Companies in Arkansas are allowed to release raccoons back onto the same property, but it seems the raccoon would just move back into the attic.
