Winston Salem wildlife control tip of the month: What sort of bait to use for nuisance skunks: Why do you want to trap a wild animal like the nuisance skunk? Is it to remove it from your home or yard? Is it to make sure that it has been caught for when the local wildlife control experts to take away from your life? Maybe you want to use a kill trap to exterminate the little blighter that has been causing havoc on your property? Whatever the reason, one thing is for sure - you are going to need the right bait to catch these crazy wild critters, especially an animal as versatile as the skunk that seems to evade human capture on a fairly regular basis. The main problem that people find when catching all wild animals and not just the skunk, is picking the right bait to get the job done as quickly and as effectively as possible. With so many things to choose from, it would seem that the world of baiting animals could seem like a minefield. The thing to do is to research the animal that you are trying to catch, and when you do so with animals like the nuisance skunk, you will find that there are more options than you first may have thought. The nuisance skunk loves to eat grubs that you would find in your garden such as beetles, slugs and snails, but these aren't the best types of bait to use - you may find catching these creatures may be easy, but trying to get them to stay still in the trap could be another matter entirely. The other things that you COULD use as bait for trapping a skunk is fruit that you would have growing in your garden or yard, or that you could pick up from the local grocery store. Nuisance skunks love sugary fruits, so this is a great place to start. They also have a habit of rummaging through your garbage cans for leftover foods, so rather than tossing this food in the trash, maybe you should look at using the leftovers from your dinner in the traps that you are setting.

Reader mail feedback: We live in Winston Salem NC, every night for the past three nights I'm woken to scratching noises and running around in my attic. I hear nothing durning the day. I'm home all day and have been listening for it. One night it sounded like there was two of them running around. On your web sight it said there active during the day. Remember we are dark in Alaska a lot right now, it's winter. Also very cold and windy at this time. Please help me!! If I can I don't want to trap them, a good squirrel in Alaska is a dead one. They eat everything. Is there a poison or rat trap? We've bought an old home where the basement was converted into a bedroom the area was walled up and there is duct work, wiring and squirrels running around in there. We must get rid of these guys. We here them chewing on stuff and running around all night. We would like to know your consulting fee and need someone to help us get rid of these guys once and for all. Thank you.

Hi Wildlife Removal USA, I bought this 13 yr old home and during inspection, the inspector told me that the attic has rodent issue. When confronted the seller , he said they have a extermination company doing mtce every 3 mths or so. Anyway, I am hearing wood knocking noises and pin drops above my bedroom, my home office, and laudry room and time to time noises on the kitchechen ceiling or family room. I just repainted the exterior of my house and also did some carpentry work to replace the squirrel damaged freeze boards with hardie. So far I do not see any visible holes of how these rodents are entering... I have one live oak tree in the front yard and 2 live oaks on the backyard, I have 2 dogs. There are traces of poop in the attic but not sure it's from the previous owner's problem or it's new ones... Anyway, I hired a professional extermination company to resolve this problem (911 wildlife). So far, they have not been able to identify any holes because the noises seem to be consistent everyday starting 5 am and sometimes in the afternoon and than in the evening 8 pm onwards and lasts like 1 am. In fact the guy from the company claim that he found the hole in one of the attic vents where the screen is pushed but not chewed. It makes me suspicious that he used his fist to push the screen when he was inspecting the roof . He installed a 1-way door there. But nothing has changes. I am still hearing the same noises in the same spots everyday. That is why I feel that he might have created the hole to get some money from me. I am hearing noises right now as I am writing this email. I gave up on the company because it's been over 2 mths now and they have not identified the source of the problem. Can you pls advise what is my next step because this is freaking me out and I can't move forward knowing that I am living in my house with rodents. PLS HELP!!!!
