Is raccoon feces dangerous to touch or breathe?

If you get bite or scratched by a raccoon, you are in danger of different infection, because wildlife animals always have numerous different infections. Raccoon urine is also possible carrier of different infections that can lead to liver or kidney illness. If you get in touch with feces of a raccoon you are in even higher danger because fecal matter can be carrier of a vast array of diseases that a raccoon is simply a carrier, but which can cause serious consequences in human.



If you want to clean after a raccoon (probably after you have gotten them out of your attic or a yard), it is very important that you should take care of all possible precaution measures to protect yourself from any possible infection disease. Never touch feces with bare hand. Always wear rubber gloves to pick up feces-and dispose these gloves after you complete cleaning. Wear disposable cleaning clothes and boots; once you finish cleaning, wash boots thoroughly before you use them afterwards.

Raccoon feces is transfer mode of Hanta virus which causes dangerous health complications in human, if contracted through direct contact with a raccoon feces. This virus causes pulmonary complications and is very easily contracted, which is another reason to be very careful when handling raccoon feces. There is also danger of raccoon roundworm (if contracted by humans, it can cause liver complications), Leptospirosis (bacteria that can cause headache, fever, diarrhea and muscle ache), Giardiasis (symptoms include diarrhea, dehydration, etc.)

Raccoon feces are strong allergen. Dust particles with raccoon droppings can cause sneezing and eye watering symptoms. All this indicates that it is very important to clean after raccoon thoroughly. First remove large particles with rubber gloves on, and them wash of entire area with detergent and sanitizer. Dispose all of the residues in safe bags that will be safely closed and put in garbage so that no one gets in touch with the content afterwards. Wild animals are not the ones that can be kept as pets in homes. These are also not allowed to be entered in homes, attic, or any place where the human are to move about. This is just because of the threats and dangers which is caused by the wild animal’s presence.
